Segunda División (Peru) (Liga2) - the second level of Peru’s professional club league system, run under the Peruvian Football Federation. Regulations: the competition is played in stages. In the first stage, clubs are split into two geographically based groups and play a double round-robin, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. After that stage, the competition forms championship groups and a relegation group, and season regulations may also include carry-over or bonus points for group leaders. In the championship groups, places are ranked by points, then goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head results. The competition can also use an overall accumulated table based on relative per-match metrics, including points, goal difference and goals scored, which is used to assign home advantage in decisive ties. Promotion play-offs include single-match quarter-finals and two-legged semi-finals and a final, and if a two-legged tie is level on aggregate, the winner is decided by a penalty shoot-out. The champion is promoted to Peru’s top division, and an additional promotion place is decided via a further two-legged tie among the best teams immediately behind the champion. In the relegation group, teams play a double round-robin and the bottom club is relegated to Peru’s third tier.
